SP had its bad points but there's no denying they were scenic and interesting. These rebuilds were functional and unlike so many based on the same core, attractive.

Almost 40 years after it was built, SP GP9 #3852 is still at work for its owner, Southern Pacific. It is busy switching the industrial park on the South end of Lathrop, CA.
